Fiedler's proposal

Jeff Fiedler, the director of the Cavaliers, is proposing a rules change that determine placement by a sum of ordinal placements for each caption rather than a sum of scores out of 200. GE would count twice since it currently carries twice as much weight as other captions.

Out of all the proposals this season, this is the most radical change of them all. Yes, George Hopkins wants to have synthesizers and samplers on the field, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's going to get shut down soundly. I did a little experimenting, and here's how Finals week would have panned out under this system. Lowest score wins, I counted GE twice. First one is quarters, then semis, then finals.

Nothing major like someone advancing and someone not advancing, but the Cadets and Bluecoats would have swapped all three nights with Cadets getting 4th on Finals night. BK had brutal Visual Ensemble scores but somehow turned it around on Finals night. I guess kudos to them turning it on when it counts, can't really judge because the only time I have seen them is the Finals DVD. Other interesting things happened too: discuss.
